Episode 115 - Simply Cooking
Segment #2 - Lunch
Recipe - Popovers
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- 1 popover pan*
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup flour
- Pinch of salt
*You may use ovenproof custard cups or a muffin pan with some success, but popovers rise best in a deep and narrow popover style pan.
LET'S GET STARTED:
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
- Blend all of the ingredients in a blender until smooth. Pour into greased popover pan two-thirds full.
- Bake for 20 minutes. Don't peek! Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees and bake for an additional 20 minutes until well browned and crusty.
- Remove from oven immediately. Release steam by poking each one with a knife. Cool.
- Slice off top. Fill hollow center with crab (see recipe below), tuna or egg salad.
TIP: Popovers are delicious hot out of the oven with butter or jelly. When cool, they can also be frozen and re-heated in a 425 degree oven for 2 minutes or until crisp. OTHER ACTIVITIES FROM THIS EPISODE:
