Episode 118 - Running a Household
Segment #1 - Windsocks
Activity - Windsocks

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • plastic tablecloth
  • 1-inch x 18-inch strip of craft foam sheet
  • scissors
  • clear packing tape
  • electrical tape
  • hole punch
  • 44-inches cording or ribbon

LET'S GET STARTED:

  1. Make a cylinder for the top of the windsock by cutting out a 12" x 18" rectangle from a plastic tablecloth.
  2. Attach the strip of foam sheet to top edge of rectangle with electrical tape.
  3. Add a piece of packing tape along the bottom edge of rectangle to reinforce the plastic.   Punch nine holes 2 inches apart along the taped edge.
  4. Overlap the shorter sides of the rectangle and tape them together creating a cylinder.
  5. Punch 4 holes an equal distance apart from each other at the top of the tube.
  6. Loop and knot 22" of cording or ribbon through one hole, then knot the other end through the hole across from it.   Repeat with a second length in remaining two holes.   For a hanger, attach a metal loop onto both ribbons and knot in place.
  7. Cut nine 2-inch x 40-inch strips of plastic tablecloth for the tail.   Slip each strip into the holes you punched along the bottom edge of the tube and knot.
