Episode 119 - Our Home
Segment #1 - Create a Carpet
Activity - Hopscotch Carpet Squares
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- 10 carpet squares (approx. 10-inch x 12-inch) from sample books
- Rubber shelf liner cut into 10 squares that match size of carpet squares
- Glue
- Acrylic paint and paintbrushes
LET'S GET STARTED:
- "Write" your name using rope, string or yarn shaped into letters and glue it onto a plank of wood.
- For variations, use your imagination! Paper, cardboard, an old chalkboard, a mirror, etc. could be the background. Use just about anything from the junk drawer to spell out your letters such as buttons, bottle caps, ribbon, sand, twigs, leaves.
- Hang on your wall or door... anyplace you want!
HERE ARE SOME OTHER IDEAS:
Name and Notes Door Sign Glue colorful plastic alphabet letters forming your child's name to a small lightweight blackboard. Glue a stationery clip to the frame and attach a tiny tablet. Tie a string around a pen and loop over the clip. Hang it at your preschooler's height on the bedroom door.
Outside the Box Count the letters in your child's name and cover that many empty single portion cereal boxes with plain construction paper. Paint one large letter on the front side of each box to collectively spell the name. Attach self-stick hooks on the back and hang them on your child's wall.
Parenting Tip
Play a game with your name. See how many words you can form with the letters. Include the letters in your middle and last names to expand the list.
