Episode 120 - Take a Moment
Segment #1 - Frames
Activity - Dried Potato Mosaic Frame

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Potato
  • Peeler
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Cooling rack
  • Acrylic paint, paintbrush
  • Strong glue
  • Old frame (you could paint it a solid color first if you wish)

LET'S GET STARTED:

  1. Peel skins from potato. Slice potato into 1/4-inch slices and then cut slices into various shapes and chunks about the size of a quarter.
  2. Set pieces on a cooling rack to dry and harden. It may take up to a week to get rock hard.   It's OK if they curve a bit as they dry.
  3. Paint hardened potato pieces with a variety of colors and patterns. Let dry.
  4. Using strong glue, attach the pieces to a frame creating a mosaic design.
  5. Mount picture to back of frame and display.
