Activity - Slate Stack Fountain

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• Fountain pump and tubing (available at hardware and discount stores)
• Slate
• Hammer
• Newspaper
• Safety glasses
• Wide mouthed shallow glass bowl
• River stones
• Water

LET'S GET STARTED:

1. Wrap slate piece in many sheets of newspaper. Wearing safety glasses, an adult or older child may pound onto newspaper with hammer to break slate into pieces.
2. Place small fountain pump into middle of shallow bowl. Surround with river stones. Add water to bowl and test the pump to make sure it works.
3. Pile slate pieces around top of pump. Remember to keep fountain filled with water.
