Episode 109 - Simplicity
Segment #1 -Dough Art
Activity - Dough Art

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1 cup of salt
  • 1 cup of water
  • Medium-size mixing bowl, rolling pin, cookie sheet

LET'S GET STARTED:

Mix together the flour, salt and water in a medium-size bowl.   Knead several times on a floured board.   Roll out the dough to 1/2-inch thickness.   Dip cookie cutters in flour and cut out shapes.   Place shapes on the cookie sheet.   If you wish, carve patterns and designs on the dough with a dull knife.

Bake the cutouts in a 250 degree F oven for about 1 1/2 hours or until dough is hard to the touch.   Remove the cutouts from the cookie sheet and cool on a wire rack.

Paint the shapes with tempera or acrylic paints.   Let dry.
